YMCA Pumpkin Patch

Beginning on October 3 (through Halloween), the YMCA in Cedar Park is having a Pumpkin Patch, which includes games for kids, stations for painting the pumpkins, etc.

re you ready for Halloween? Well, the one item every house needs to set the mood for the season is a pumpkin and the YMCA's Camp Twin Lakes in Cedar Park has the best selection around for you to choose from. Stop by between Oct. 3 and Oct. 31 for your chance to pick out and purchase your very own jack-o-lantern. The Patch is open 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. Don't miss out... make your plans to visit the Pumpkin Patch before the big day. We'll see you there! For more information, contact the Twin Lakes Family YMCA at (512) 250-9622.

If this is something we want to make as a social outing, let Lisa or Lauren know!

Memory Verse - Forgiveness

We are going to be one week behind on memory verses, so memorize this one on Forgiveness for next Thursday!

Colossians 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

*OUTREACH REMINDERS*

Young Lives
Please bring $12 this Thursday to provide for the meal we will be offering to the Young Lives group at Travis High School. This will cover the cost of the entire meal including beverages, plates, napkins, and utensils for the group of twenty-five. We need a couple ladies (including myself)to take the meal to Travis High and possibly someone to sit with the kids of those who volunteer to take the meal. I (Rachel) will be calling our contact at Young Lives to find out what would be the earliest time we can drop off the food. The meal will be delivered on Tuesday, Sept. 30th. If this is something that you can help out with, please let me know.

HopeFest

HopeFest will be Saturday, Oct. 4th. If you have items to donate, please bring those to me by Thursday, Oct. 2nd. Again, any gently used baby & toddler clothing and blankets would be a wonderful contribution, as well as diapers and wipes.

Have a great week!

Play Date

Ladies, on Monday September 22 I (Lisa) am planning an outing with Noah. We are going to try a new place that I heard about called Jungle Java. This is an indoor playscape designed for older children and toddlers and moms/dads who love to have some time for chit chat and sipping coffee. We would love for everyone to join us and spend the morning having some fun and engaging in some much needed adult conversation. Jungle Java is located off of Hwy 79 at 1400 E. Old Settlers Blvd. in Round Rock. Check out the website at www.junglejavaplay.com. Noah and I will be there around 10:00 am and stay through lunch. They don't allow food to be brought in from outside, but they do provide healthy food choices from there menu. I hope to see everyone there. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or call.

Outreach Announcements

This semester we will be helping out with YOUNG LIVES through Travis High School, as we did last spring. This is an opportunity to serve and disciple teen moms. Dinner is needed on Tuesday, September 30th for a YOUNG LIVES meeting at Travis High. I (Rachel) will be giving more specific details on Thursday as to what we need to provide as a group. This will include food items, as well as gift cards in small increments. Though I don't have all the details yet, I wanted to let everyone know what's coming up.

HOPEFEST '08 will be taking place on Saturday, October 4th at Reagan High School. This event is held with the purpose of empowering families in the neighborhoods surrounding Reagan High School. This year, The Cross Festival has partnered with HOPEFEST, and it is sure to be a fun, family-friendly event that seeks to encourage us to live in community with one another.

There are several ways to get involved with HOPEFEST '08, so please check out the website (http://web.mac.com/allenweeks1/HopeFest/Home.html) for a full listing of details surrounding the festivities. A way that we can help as a group is by donating some items for their cause. There is a need for gently used newborn/toddler clothing, blankets, diapers, and wipes. The items need to be collected by October 3rd. Let's try to give what we can to support this community effort.

What's For Dinner Tonight?

The dinner meal is important not only for the nutritional well being of the entire family, it also allows time for everyone to debrief and catch up with each others activities at the end of a hectic day.

Dream Dinners helps busy parents with the task of getting dinner on the table quickly and easily. The meals are quick to fix, letting you serve your family a home-cooked meal in the time it takes to do takeout, fast food or pizza. Dream Dinners is a wonderful resource in helping out our friends that have welcomed a newborn, are going through a difficult time financially, or just offering it as a gift to those we care about. Visit dreamdinners.com to learn more.

www.thetrendymommy.com

I (Lauren) am going to be helping out with the website www.thetrendymommy.com, writing little articles about things to do in Austin with kids. This website is set to launch on September 16th and I would love for you all to support this effort.

This website is a spin-off of The Trendy Mommy blog which so many of you are fans of already! So, the current Dallas-based blog is going to include many major cities around the U.S.

So, please support us (and me) and pass this website on to any mommies in Austin or other cities throughout the country. It is great resource for new ideas for kids!

Also, the site is looking for some giveaways for the launch party...so if you or anyone you know would like to donate any items for this, please let me know. In return for a $20 donation, the retailer will get a 125 by 125 ad spot on the site.
